Amelia Dimoldenberg finally got Andrew Garfield to appear on her show, “Chicken Shop Date,” after their two viral red-carpet interactions. The resulting 11-minute video marks one of her best installments in the series—and plays like a gripping will-they-won’t-they rom-com.
Dimoldenberg starts the date by telling Garfield, “Don’t do anything weird like bring out a ring or get down on one knee or like—I’m not in the mood today. Just so we’re clear.” They then discuss their history, with Garfield saying, “Can we agree there’s a bit of a curse on this?” He went on to say that “we can own that it’s been vibey.”
Dimoldenberg agreed, saying in a deadpan tone, “Yeah, it’s been vibey to the point where you’ve been avoiding me for two years, because the vibes were too much for you to handle.”
“Powerful vibes,” Garfield chimed in.
“So I’m actually surprised you’re here,” she said.
“I’m also surprised I’m here as well,” he replied.
The two go on riffing throughout the date, with Garfield at one point asking Dimoldenberg what might’ve happened if there weren’t cameras on them. “If this wasn’t here, do you think we’d actually go on a date? Do you think it’s fucked up, the fact that we could have actually gone on a date at some point maybe?”
“Well, I don’t know,” she said.
“Okay, but like take out all the practicalities and the logic,” he continued. “I actually believe maybe we could’ve without all of this.”
