Whew, we made it! Wednesday night was the very first 2020 Democratic presidential debate, and the country got to watch as 10 of the Democratic presidential candidates took to the stage to discuss reproductive rights, health care, climate change, gun control, immigration, and more. As a refresher, the lineup on Wednesday included Cory Booker, Bill de Blasio, Julián Castro, John Delaney, Tulsi Gabbard, Jay Inslee, Amy Klobuchar, Beto O’Rourke, Tim Ryan, and Elizabeth Warren. (It was also a historic night, with more women on the debate stage than ever before, according to Vox.)
But enough with the pleasantries. Of course, there were a lot of opinions about Wednesday’s debate and most of those opinions ended up on Twitter. Ahead, some of the best and funniest tweets from the 2020 debate kickoff.
Stay tuned for Thursday night when we get to do this all over again and watch Joe Biden, Michael Bennet, Pete Buttigieg, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, John Hickenlooper, Bernie Sanders, Eric Swalwell, Marianne Williamson, and Andrew Yang take the debate stage starting at 9 P.M. EST. The moderators—Savannah Guthrie, Lester Holt, Chuck Todd, Rachel Maddow and José Diaz-Balart—will be the same. (Find out more information on what it takes to qualify for one of these debates here.)
